Beide munthuizen hebben het in april heel erg druk gehad, omdat koopjesjagers allemaal tegelijk goud en zilver kochten na de grote prijsdaling. In mei werd er wederom veel goud en zilver verkocht aan beleggers, maar de aantallen zijn wat minder extreem.
In mei verkocht de Perth Mint in totaal 86.983,54 troy OUNCE aan goudbaren en gouden munten, vergeleken met een totaal volume van 111.505,06 troy OUNCE in de maand april. Ook werd er wat minder zilver verkocht, want het totaal aan zilverbaren en zilveren munten kwam de afgelopen maand uit op 587.454,82 troy OUNCE. Dat is meer dan in februari en maart, maar minder dan het recordvolume van 1,1 miljoen troy OUNCE in de aprilmaand.
