Thinking about a quadrillion dollars is like trying to imagine how big the universe is. The $16 trillion national debt is STAGGERING enough, but reading about a quadrillion-dollar bubble is beyond mind-blowing. While the media and Washington D.C. have our attention on the financial precipice allegedly ahead of us next year and the silly, fake “negotiations” that are going on, the biggest U.S. banks have been dealing with risky financial instruments called derivatives (specifically over-the-counter derivatives, a completely unregulated marketplace). Because these derivatives transactions can be done privately without going through an exchange, the total face value of the global derivatives market is estimated at upwards of $1.5 quadrillion. Compared to this derivatives bubble, the fiscal cliff is a mere crack in the pavement.

The biggest problem facing European banks - one we highlighted most recently yesterday when we showed the latest 20% surge in Spanish Banco Popular Non-Performing Loans to a fresh record - and one we have been covering since 2010, which as of 2012 amounted to some $4.5 trillion that needs to be "remedied" - is the STAGGERING amount of bad debt on the books of Europe's numerous banks, the bulk of which especially in the periphery are cojoined with their sovereign host in an unbreakable bond which despite Europe's theatrical attempts to sever, only keeps getting stronger.

While Chinese stocks are underperforming their Japanese neighbors', the decision of which Asian language to learn (in order to potentially better your future) is clear. As Hurun Research notes, half of the richest women in the world (with assets in excess of $1 billion) are from China - including 3 from the Top 5 and 6 of the Top 10. Asia was home to the highest number of billionaires this year with most of them operating in real estate sector.  The total wealth of the 1453 billionaires amounted to a STAGGERING US$5.5 trillion, the equivalent of China’s GDP and the so-called 'Ten-Zero-Club' - individuals with over USD10bn - grew by 25 to 108 people. The USA still ranks #1 (exceptionally) for the country with the most billionaires - at 409!

One out of four on the list of 50 richest women in China is involved in real estate business. And 18 percent of them are in the financial sector.

Volgens Jim Rogers had Rusland in het verleden een totaal verkeerde economische aanpak. Het beloofde iedereen dat alles OK zou zijn als ze in Rusland investeerde, maar in de plaats namen ze alleen de investeringen aan en kwam er niets in de plaats. In het slechtste geval belandde men zelfs in de gevangenis. Het nieuwe beleid van Putin lijkt voor een ommekeer te zorgen.

Daarnaast heeft Rusland ook een goed converteerbare munt, in tegenstelling tot wat de meeste mensen denken. Rusland en zijn munt vertegenwoordigen momenteel een aantrekkelijk investeringsklimaat: stabiele politiek en een gigantische economie. Investeerders die er graag vroeg bij zijn, moeten nu naar Rusland kijken aldus Jim Rogers.
